How good is Canva? – My personal experience with the tool

I have been an avid Canva user for more than a year now and I’ll be honest, it’s the best graphic design tool I’ve ever come across. With Canva, I have created images for my blog, reels for my Instagram account, a portfolio for myself, and a number of other things. And Canva worked great all the time.

But this won’t be enough to make you go with the tool, I know. That’s why below, I have listed some of my favourite Canva features that’ll help you understand the tool in a better way. One of the best things I found about Canva is that it offers you a huge collection of templates to choose from for your designs. I won’t be wrong if I say that there is at least one template for everything you type in the search box.

Speaking of numbers, the tool offers more than 610,000 templates in total, of which more than 350,000 are available for free.

The best part about these templates is that they are high-quality, relatable, and creative. I bet you won’t find a single boring template on the platform. Not just that, the categories of the templates range widely as well. From psychology to metaverse, on Canva, you can find templates of all.

2. Collection of multimedia content

Along with a huge collection of templates, Canva has a pretty diverse collection of multimedia content too. The multimedia content pieces available on the platform include images, videos, animations, graphics, and emojis. Just like the templates, there is an image, video, graphic, or emoji for every single thing you want.

This large collection of multimedia helps you pick out the right visual for your content that’ll engage with your audience in a much better way. I have experienced it as well.

3. Ease of use

Another Canva feature that I’d like to talk about is its ease of use. The tool is super easy to use. Canva is designed for everyone – from a complete newbie who knows nothing about graphic designing to experts who work on every little detail. And looking at the responses, it’s been great for everyone too.

I enjoyed working on Canva too. It was pretty straightforward. However, there were some things that I found difficult to do. For example, if you want to animate the texts of your reel video, it might be a little difficult. Also, if you want to add images from your device in a Canva frame template, adjusting its ratio can be difficult.

But overall, the tool was quite simple and easy and you won’t have any trouble creating your best content piece from it. But if you do, just watch a few Canva tutorials and everything be fine.

Where does Canva fail? – My personal experience

I have been enjoying creating content using Canva so far. However, there are some things about the tool that I don’t enjoy. I hate them. And before you decide to make it your default graphic designing tool, you need to know about these things.

That’s why I have mentioned them below. Let’s take a look.

1. You cannot create something new

Canva doesn’t let you start from scratch. At first, this might sound like a positive aspect of the tool but once you start using it, you’ll understand that it’s a big limitation.

As we know, Canva provides you with pre-set tools and content pieces which you can work on to create what you need. But if you wanted to create something from scratch, which you can do in Photoshop or Illustrator, Canva won’t let you do that. You can only change the colour and appearance of anything in Canva. You can’t create new things!

2. It is hard to use Canva on a small screen

If you are using Canva on your android or iOS device, you may not get the same experience as you would get while using the tool on a laptop or a PC. I started using the tool on my Oppo A5 a year ago. But due to the small screen size of my phone, I wasn’t enjoying the tool much.

But as soon as I shifted to my laptop, using Canva became much easier and more convenient.
