Having a good web host is one of the most crucial things every online business needs. A good and reliable web host assures you enough data storage space, good speed, and high uptime. To be honest, almost all of the web hosting providers out there claim to offer all these. But in reality, only a few can make up for their claims.

In this article, we will be reviewing a very popular web host provider, Bluehost, and try to find whether the company does what it says or is it just the market of words. Our points of focus in this article will be the key features offered by Bluehost, its overall performance, and its pricing. After covering these points in detail, I will make my honest conclusion regarding the web hosting provider in the end.

So, as always, let’s start our review with a quick intro to Bluehost.

What is Bluehost?

I am not wrong when I say that Bluehost comes in the top-three podium of the best web hosting providers out there. Competing with market leaders like Hostinger and Hostgator, Bluehost is considered one of the best web hosting providers in the world. The company is huge.

And to support my statement, let me tell you that the company has been operating since 2003 and currently hosts more than 2 million websites. The reputation of the web hosts increases much bigger when you find that they are officially recommended by WordPress.

Bluehost’s primary agenda has been, right from the start, to support all business classes with high-quality features and affordability.

But does the company do what it says to do? Let’s see!

Bluehost’s features

After being confused with so many web hosting options to choose from for my site last year, I now know the importance of knowing the features of any tool or platform. And so, here are some of the major features Bluehost offers that you should look into.

1. High speed

If you have ever operated the internet before, you would understand the value of the speed of a site. That is how fast it loads, how quickly its content pieces start showing up, and how quickly you can move from one page to another. All this is controlled by the web hosting that the website uses.

High website speed is what every web owner craves. Not only does it boost your site’s ranking in the result pages but also gives your readers a smooth and convenient experience.

Bluehost understands the importance of web speed for businesses quite well and thus offers consistent high web speed to its customers. According to a speed test run by WpBeginner, the average loading time of a site using Bluehost was 1.48 seconds, which is commendable.

2. Traffic handling

Most web hosting providers lose their calm when the number of visitors to a website increases. But with Bluehost, you will get consistent loading speed, very good uptime, and minimal failures on your site no matter how many visitors it has.

3. Shared Hosting

Shared hosting is considered the go-to hosting type for any small business that is starting in the market. With Bluehost, you get a reliable, secure, and fast shared hosting experience to take your websites from here to there!

4. Free CDN + SSL

By choosing to go with a Bluehost plan, you get free CDN and SSL as well to ensure high-class data distribution while ensuring the complete safety of your website. Although this is something most web hosting providers offer, its importance remains high.

Bluehost Pros & Cons

Just like any other thing existing on the planet, Bluehost has its positive side as well as negative too. Here is a quick look at what this world’s popular web hosting provider is best at and where it lacks.

Pros

  • High speed is something Bluehost excels at. The web host offers you super fast web speed while maintaining your website server response time and uptime at the same time.
  • Along with small and medium businesses, Bluehost is capable of managing large online businesses too. The web host keeps your website consistent and stable even in very high traffic.
  • Not something out of the box but Bluehost also offers you a free domain for one year.
  • With Bluehost, you get an exclusive 30-day money-back guarantee. It means if your experience with the web hosts isn’t what you’d expected, you will get all your money back. The best part is that this offer applies to all the plans.

Cons

  • Although Bluehost provides you with one year of free domain, its renewal cost the next year is higher than average.
  • You cannot buy a plan from the web host for less than 12 months.

Overall, Bluehost looks like a very good web host when you are looking to get started with your website without spending too much. The plans of the web hosts are quite cost-efficient and offer some really good features too. However, you might criticize the domain renewal system of the platform which costs you more than you’d wish.

Bluehost: Plans & Pricing

Bluehost’s pricing for its plans has been a hot topic of debate in the web hosting market. The company claims to offer the best services at the lowest price, which seems to be true. However, you must know about this section of the web host before putting your hard-earned money into it.

So, Bluehost offers a total of 4 plans in its shared hosting category. (the company also offers dedicated hosting and VPS hosting). Let’s have a look at all four.

  • Basic: The basic plan is recommended for completely new websites starting from scratch. At the cost of $2.95 per month for 12 months, it offers one domain hosting, 50 GB SSD, 5 email accounts, and some custom themes.
  • Plus: Slightly better than the Basic plan, the plus plan costs you $5.45 per month (for a 12-month tenure) and allows you to run unlimited websites on it. With 20 GB SSD storage, custom themes, and free SSL, it helps you manage your website more efficiently.
  • Choice Plus: This plan is recommended for mid-sized websites that have decent monthly traffic. Along with all the features of the Plus plan, it also offers you performance insight tools, plugin connections, and domain privacy. It costs the same as the plus plan i.e. $5.45 per month
  • Pro: Along with all the features from previous plans, the pro plan also offers your website a dedicated IP address, optimized CPU resources, automatic data backup, and performance insights. It costs around $14 per month for the first term and $28 per month then after.

Conclusion

After going through the thorough review of Bluehost in this article, it is clear that the web host is quite capable and worthy of being among the best. It offers some pretty beneficial tools and features and has an efficient customer support team too. However, I see the company needs to manage its plan renewal costs, which might cost them in the long run.
